Who is Mr. Johnston?
Mr. Johnston is a husband to Melissa, a father to Gabrielle (an ISU grad and currently employed at John Deere) and Faith (an Iowa State junior), a brother to Patrick, a son to Mike and Sandy, and a friend and neighbor to many people. He lives just outside of Clermont on an acreage with his two dogs, an assortment of barn cats, and a flock of chickens. This is his seventh year in the middle school, his 23nd year at the Valley/NFV Middle School center, and his 27th year of being an educator over all.
Mr. Johnston is a high school graduate of Dunkerton Community School, a college graduate of Winona State University in Minnesota, and a master's graduate from Viterbo University in Wisconsin. He and Melissa taught first in Minnesota, Alaska, Missouri, and finally Iowa. He's coached varsity girls basketball for a year and middle school girls basketball for 22 year total. He is also the Leader in Me advisor for sixth grade here at NFV.
When Mr. Johnston has a little free time (which isn't very often), he likes to garden, work with technology, run/bike, camp, and be with family.
